What to Expect at MassageRx

Your first session at MassageRx is focused on understanding your body, your history, and your goals — not applying a routine treatment.

Advanced manual therapy is guided by assessment and clinical reasoning. This ensures care is specific, purposeful, and aligned with what you need.

Before Your Appointment

You may be asked to complete a brief intake form. This helps provide context around:

  • Your current symptoms

  • Relevant injury or medical history

  • Activity levels and training (if applicable)

  • Your goals for treatment

This information allows your session to begin with clarity and direction.

Your First Session

Your session will typically include three key components:

1. Discussion and Assessment

We begin by discussing your symptoms, history, and goals. This is followed by a physical assessment, which may include:

  • Movement observation

  • Joint and tissue assessment

  • Identification of areas contributing to pain or restriction

This step is essential. It ensures treatment is guided by findings, not assumptions.

2. Advanced Manual Therapy Treatment

Treatment is tailored to your individual presentation and may include:

  • Targeted manual therapy

  • Neuromuscular techniques

  • Movement-based correction

  • Selective use of tools such as dry needling, shockwave, or laser therapy when appropriate

Not every session includes every technique. Care is adapted based on your needs and response.

3. Explanation and Ongoing Plan

You will be provided with clear explanation around:

  • What was found during assessment

  • Why specific treatments were used

  • What to expect following the session

  • Recommendations to support progress

This ensures you understand your condition and the reasoning behind care.

What Makes MassageRx Different

MassageRx operates using an advanced manual therapy model.

This means treatment is:

  • Assessment-led, not routine-based

  • Adapted to your individual presentation

  • Focused on addressing contributing factors, not just symptoms

  • Designed to support long-term movement and function

The goal is not simply to provide temporary relief, but to help your body move and function more effectively over time.

What You May Feel After Treatment

Responses to treatment vary and may include:

  • Reduced pain or improved movement

  • Temporary soreness as tissues and the nervous system adapt

  • Gradual improvement over subsequent days

These responses will be explained during your session so you know what to expect.

What to Wear

Wear comfortable clothing that allows access to the area being treated and allows movement assessment if needed.

For example:

  • Shorts for lower body concerns

  • T-shirt or singlet for upper body concerns

This helps ensure effective assessment and treatment.

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

This varies depending on:

  • The nature and duration of your condition

  • Your activity levels

  • How your body responds to treatment

Some issues resolve quickly. Others benefit from a longer-term approach focused on restoring resilience and movement quality.

This will be discussed openly and honestly.
